Concept Evaluations

"Try to learn something about everything and everything about something."
Thomas Huxley
I own and operate several online websites. Many people are interested in starting an Internet business or creating a website for an existing business. I encourage you to do it, and I love doing business on the Internet. However, there are several things you should know before you start. Like most things that are worthwhile there's a lot of work involved in developing and maintaining a successful online business. For the vast majority of people, publishing a one size fits all website shown on infomercials or even offered by many reputable hosting services generate little or no revenue. Selecting the right products to sell is an ongoing problem.
The purpose of the service offered on this page is to offer you one hour of advice tailored to your specific business. There are hundreds of things you should know and consider. They're not all covered in one hour. After that hour, you won't be an expert. However, you'll know what you're up against; what you'll need to be successful; and if selling on the Internet is something you want to do. Having some basic information on the front end can prevent you from making some expensive mistakes and avoid wasting valuable time.
  • You'll get an overall view of Internet Marketing, and why Search Engine Optimization is only one aspect of selling on the Web.
  • You'll understand the skills to master or buy to be successful.
  • You'll understand what to look for in an Internet Marketing Consultant.
  • We'll take a QUICK look at your existing website if one exists so you have an idea of where you stand.
  • I'll answer your questions from the viewpoint of someone who understands business and understands what it takes to make payroll.
  • There will be no contracts to sign and no long-term commitments. In fact, if you are not 100% satisfied with the information you get for your $200 I will refund your money.
  • Going forward, if you want advice you can purchase as much time as you want at the rate of $100 /hr. billed in quarter hour increments.

Web Site Evaluations

You already have a great product and a website, but your online results have been disappointing. I'll give it a quick review so you can get an idea of what it will take to improve the site's performance and conversion. Some of the things I'll review include whether
  • the website is
    • fast;
    • responsive displaying well on all media;
    • easy to use;
    • well-organized;
    • easy to navigate; and
    • contains clean code.
  • web copy
    • is topical;
    • has excellent readability;
    • is scannable;
    • grammatically correct;
    • personalized;
    • uses the inverted pyramid approach to presenting information;
    • designed to help and inform but not lecture;
    • whenever possible, uses words non-experts can understand or explains technical terms in lay terms;
    • is Optimized for and focused on Inbound Marketing;
    • written for people and not Search Engines; and
    • lastly, presents an optimistic and uplifting view.

AI and AIO Readiness

Search is shifting fast. More and more people now get their answer straight from an AI assistant — ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity — or from Google's AI overview, without ever clicking a list of links. Being the source those systems trust and quote is what I call AI Optimization, or AIO, and it is quickly becoming as important as traditional ranking. When I evaluate your site, I look at how ready it is to earn that visibility.
The encouraging part is that AIO rewards the same fundamentals as good SEO and good writing. There is no separate trick — a site that genuinely helps people is the same site an AI is comfortable citing.
I'll look at whether your site
  • answers the real questions your customers ask, clearly and completely;
  • demonstrates genuine, first-hand expertise an AI can trust;
  • is organized and marked up so a machine knows exactly what each page covers;
  • uses clean, valid structured data (schema) that both AI and search engines can read; and
  • reads like it was written by a knowledgeable human, not generated wholesale by a machine — something readers and AI systems alike increasingly distrust.
I use AI every day as a research and drafting tool. Twenty-plus years of experience still decides what actually earns your customers' trust.
